Depending on who you ask, this could be the beginning or the end. New York Fashion Week marks the end of the men’s show circuit (which began in Italy in January) and the beginning of the women’s show circuit (which will soon hop over to London, then onward to Milan and Paris).
Brand new designers and stalwarts alike are showcasing their wares for the cooler months ahead, giving us all something to look forward to as the summer heat fades. There is a lot going on in the city, whether people are just arriving or are exhausted from the long journey through fashion week.
In any case, the editors, buyers, influencers, and others in the industry who are visiting New York City this week are all getting dolled up in their finest finery, regardless of their level of excitement or motivation.
Because, let’s be honest, there’s a lot more going on in New York City and (gasp!) Brooklyn than just the fashion shows and presentations. People are also trying to make an impression on the street corners and sidewalks of New York City, proving that street style is still thriving despite a slight decline in its initial popularity.
